About Sarah

Hello dear one. Welcome. I’m so glad you made your way here to this little corner of the internet. Let me tell you a little about me and my journey into this current space.

My heart has always been for connection and that all beings feel welcome. As a child I felt pained when others were excluded. It is natural for me to see the beauty in diversity and that led to my pursuit of a bachelors in Social Work. That was the beginning of a journey discovering the connection of the mind, body and soul. We are all connected beings. Connected with ourselves, others, and the world we live in. After working in foster care and an afterschool art center, I took a break realizing that all this caring for others and longing to see goodness in the world had burned me out. I hadn’t prioritized my own wellbeing. There was a disconnect.

I dove into the exploration of wholeness. What did it mean to eat good food? What was my part in the process of growing, preparing, and consuming? I started asking where things came from and what my dollars were contributing to. Life or death? Every action has a reaction and I was discovering mine. Investigating the food I put in my body, the products I used on my skin and in my home. Naturally, this was a time I became more interested in yoga. I had hit a low point and felt numb; yoga was an invitation to be curious again about my body, mind, and spirit.

So I did what everyone does when they take on self-exploration, I hopped on a plane and decided to find myself in Costa Rica. In all seriousness, though, this was a huge leap for the planner and logical girl inside of me. I decided to say yes to the unknown and try something new. In Costa Rica, I spent a month learning the history of yoga, the physical postures, sequencing… all while hearing howler monkeys and the beautiful melodies of the rainforest.

I came back to Michigan, surprised by the changes in my body and mind. Yoga proved to be a healing tool. I began teaching outside in the park as well as in the local homeless shelter. Yoga for every body, everywhere. Yoga as a welcoming tool. A connection.

Presently, I teach weekly classes in South Dakota where I now live. Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and regular retreats are what keeps me feeling whole. They are tools that have helped me navigate the ups and downs of moves, childbirth, postpartum depression, anxiety, relationships, and the natural curves that life has in its path. I hope you are able to join me and experience your own journey back into the wholeness of you.
